Jonas Bohlin received his education and training at the College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm and made his breakthrough on the international scene in the 1980s when he combined form and function in his furniture designs. Many of his products have come to symbolise contemporary Swedish design, making him one of our most highly-praised designers. Apart from furniture, Jonas has also worked extensively in interior design and now, in collaboration with Rörstrand, added porcelainware design to his repertoire.
Corona
A corona is a ring of light that is created when the light from the moon is bent by minute droplets of water. That’s the scientific definition. But when Jonas Bohlin talks about the moon’s corona he is more interested in its spectacle – the magnetic attraction of the moon and the beauty of the halo of light around this heavenly body. Jonas is especially fascinated by the silver-white glow of the almost monochrome corona; the pure light. It is a natural phenomenon in porcelain and genuine platinum, and a beautiful attempt to capture the moon and place it on the dinner table.
